04 – Jamestown (Accra, Ghana, Set. 2019) é uma obra de João Miguel Barros, fundador da revista literária Sema, curador do Museu Berardo, advogado e fotógrafo.
Ela faz parte de um projeto centrado em Jamestown, um dos bairros mais antigos da cidade de Accra (Gana), fundado no século XVII. Neste imenso espaço marginal ao mar, vive e trabalha uma vasta comunidade de pescadores, sendo a pesca a sua principal fonte de sobrevivência.

Privado: João Miguel Barros
João Miguel Barros was born in 1958, in Lisbon, Portugal. He is a Lawyer by profession, in Lisbon and Macau, where he spends most of his time. He was co-director of the SEMA culture and visual arts magazine published in Lisbon between 1979 and 1982.
In 2017, he began to exhibit his photography work, with individual exhibitions at “Creative Macau – Center for Creative Industries”, Macau (February 2017), at “Museu Colecção Berardo”, Belem Cultural Center, Lisbon, Portugal (from February to August 2018), at “Macau Contemporary Art Center – Navy Yard nº 1”, Macau (April to June 2019), at Albergue SCM (July 2019) and at Fundação Rui Cunha, Macau (May 2020). He has also participated in several group exhibitions.
He published three photobooks: “Between Gaze and Hallucination” (self-published) in 2017, “Photo-Scripts – 14 short stories” (published by Museu Colecção Berardo) in 2018, “Photo-Scitpts 12 short stories (published by The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau S.A.R. Government).
In the beginning of 2020, he started publishing the magazine “Zine Photo” including his own work.
João Miguel Barros is also a freelance curator in contemporary photography, having promoted photography exhibitions of international artists in Portugal, and is currently developing several other projects in this area.
