Marta Simoes Sarkozy (b.1960) received a BA in Industrial Design from Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation [FAAP] at São Paulo, Brazil, in 1984. Since then she has been producing as a freelance graphic designer for companies in São Paulo but also in Porto/ Portugal where she lived in 1991-1992.
In 1996 she established her own studio to produce works of art including installation, painting, performance, photography and video. In 2007 she received a MA from the Department of Semiotics and Communication at Pontifícia Universidade Catolica [PUC SP] in São Paulo.
As an artist, she has taken part in many exhibitions and published her own paintings and objects in the books Brasil Art Show [2003] and Brazilian Art [1999]. Other projects include Olympia is Naked: a performance and site specific piece constructed in an underground passage beneath São Paulo – part of a larger event happening in the city called Virada Cultura [2009].
Sarkozy has also had several solo shows in Portugal and Brazil. She currently attends a photography seminar and workshop at MIS [Image and Sound Museum] as part of her research of new medias and new printing processess.
