Erwin Olaf

Nasceu em 1959 em Hilversum, Holanda. Vive e trabalha em Amsterdã.

Erwin Olaf é um artista interdisciplinar que transita pelos campos da fotografia, vídeo e instalação. Após estudar se formar em Jornalismo na Utrecht School, Olaf emergiu no cenário internacional da arte ao receber o prêmio “Young Photographer of the Year” em 1998 com a série “Chessmen” – que foi seguida por uma exposição no Ludwig Museum em Colônia (Alemanha), e exposições individuais e coletivas em alguns dos principais museus e galerias do mundo, incluindo: Bilbao Art Centre,  Modern Art Gallery em Bolonha,  Santiago Museum of Contemporary Art e Rijksmuseum em Amsterdã.

Erwin Olaf is an interdisciplinary artist working across the fields of photography, video and installation. After studying at the Utrecht School for Journalism, Olaf emerged onto the international art scene when his series ‘Chessmen’ won the Young European Photographer of the Year award in 1988. This was followed by an exhibition at the Ludwig Museum in Cologne, with subsequent solo and group shows at major museums and galleries around the world, including Bilbao Art Centre, the Modern Art Gallery in Bologna, Santiago Museum of Contemporary Art, and Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
