Sergio Roberg: uma vida mergulhada na arte

Biografia
Por boa sorte sou filho de Lyba Frydman, jornalista do setor de artes e espetáculos, e de Syllas Roberg, escritor para televisão e teatro. De certo modo, nasci de pioneiros.
Se Lyba foi a primeira jornalista brasileira especializada em televisão, cobrindo-a dos anos 50 a 2003, meu pai Syllas organizou em 1951, junto a Álvaro Moya, Jayme Cortez e outros intelectuais, a “Primeira Exposição Internacional de Histórias em Quadrinhos“, realizada em São Paulo e talvez a primeira do gênero no mundo. A primeira novela de TV brasileira foi escrita por ele, na TV Bandeirantes, aonde era também Diretor Artístico, uma adaptação do livro “Os Miseráveis” do escritor francês Victor Hugo.
Tive a sorte de crescer, assim, ao meio de artistas de todos os tipos e especialidades. Aos 7 anos li meu primeiro livro, e depois disso não parei mais de estudar arte. Aos 12 anos, ainda menino, ganhei minha primeira Asahi Pentax Spotmatic e alguns rolos de filme, e já no ano seguinte pude montar um estúdio com Oswaldo Maricato, que viria a ser um expressivo repórter fotográfico brasileiro. Tornei-me fotógrafo profissional e, adiante, jornalista e publicitário.
Para graduar-me, optei por Comunicação Visual no IADÊ – Instituto de Artes e Decoração, especializando-me em Design gráfico.
Como publicitário, atuei como Diretor de criação e Diretor de cinema de publicidade. Como jornalista, trabalhei em jornais e editoras, além de na Rede Globo de Televisão e na Rede Bandeirantes de Televisão.
Obras em Destaque
Ao mudar-me para o Interior, por opção de vida, em Sorocaba, fui editor no jornal Cruzeiro do Sul, de 1982 a 1987.
Em 2003 comecei a me dedicar a fotografar a vida selvagem na floresta.
Meu estúdio fica na área rural na Serra do São Francisco, na região paulista das cidades de Sorocaba e Votorantim, a 14 km da cidade, a 100 km da capital do estado de São Paulo. Aqui se encontram nas florestas da Mata Atlântica e as matas do Cerrado ou seja o ateliê fica dentro da floresta. Eu convivo com pássaros variados, beija-flores, onças, veados, capivaras, tamanduás e muitos outros animais.
Declaração de artista
A boa convivência com o fotógrafo Araquém Alcântara, que se notabilizou por documentar fotograficamente o povo e a natureza brasileiros, mostrou-me que fotos da natureza podem ser uma forma de ativismo ecológico ou uma forma de arte a serviço do ambientalismo.
Era isso o que eu precisava.
Para mim, estar na floresta é silenciar os pensamentos e tudo passa a ser integração.
Mas fotografar é também uma ferramenta de luta ambientalista, eu sinto que certas fotos tocam o coração das pessoas na causa da defesa da natureza!
Hoje tenho pesquisado muito e minha fotografia passou a ser autoral. Misturo fotografia com pintura, com escultura e meios eletrônicos.

My life with Art
My professional beginning as a teenager I had the luck to be the son of a journalist, specialized in arts, Liba Frydman, and the Theater and Television director Syllas Roberg. I grew up in an artistic environment; in my house art was very valued. My mother used to promote weekly meetings with editors, intellectuals and photographers in our house, and I loved to see the photos and was really happy when some of them allowed me to play around with their cameras.
When I was 12 years old, my mother gave me an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic, a professional camera, and some rolls of film. Some years later, I opened a photographic studio in partnership with a very known photographer, Oswaldo Maricato, who had worked for the most important magazines and newspapers in Brazil at the time. I became a professional photographer, then a journalist, and worked for big magazines. For my higher education, I’ve chosen to study Visual Communication at Iadê – Institute of Arts and Decoration, in São Paulo.
Further, I completed a specialization in graphic design. After that, I went to work in advertising; I became an Art Director, Creation Director, and advertising film director. However, I never left my work as a journalist. A new life I left São Paulo and moved into the countryside. There, I set up a natural remedies company. My company grew, I was really happy and involved with this work, but it unfortunately distanced me from the arts.
Some years ago I bought a new photo camera, a digital one, and started to take a lot of photos again. I had missed producing art. The theme of my photos is that which has always mostly moved me, nature! And thousands of photos later I realized that this new career could not only give me gratification and the opportunity to artistically express myself, but most importantly: I could keep on fighting to preserve nature with it. I decided that my field of action would be focused on the documentation and defense of Atlantic Rain Forest (Mata Atlântica), one of the regions with the richest biodiversity all over the world.
A photographer with a cause There is a lot to do here: twenty thousand photos later my work is only starting; and the challenge to exhibit the very “heart” of this forest, to open up people’s awareness and interest, motivates me to go ahead as a soldier defending this magnificent natural patrimony. I enjoy entering the woods and staying there for hours, days and nights, looking for images that show the true essence of this mother-forest. If my work can help to preserve even only a little of the remaining Atlantic Rain Forest (Mata Atlântica), then everything was definitely already worthwhile!

Region of activity
My studio area is in the rural area of Serra do São Francisco, in the São Paulo region of the cities of Sorocaba and Votorantim, 14 km from the city, 100 km from the capital of the state of São Paulo. Here they are in the forests of the Atlantic Forest and the forests of the Cerrado, that is, the studio is inside the forest. I live with a variety of birds, hummingbirds, jaguars, deer, capybaras, anteaters and many other animals.
